BlueGuard LEDS® for use in Indoor Environments

BlueGuard LEDS® patent pending LEDs are designed to kill various pathogenic Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria including MRSA by exposing the pathogenic bacteria to visible light having a specific wavelength range of 405 - 470 nanometers (nm), which is not in the UV range. By using the light in this visible wavelength there is no detrimental effect on human or animal health. BlueGuard LEDS® includes a second set of LED elements that emit white light in sufficient numbers and brightness to dominate the output and eliminate any discomfort that might be experienced from the 405 - 470 nm light alone. In fact, the eye will not detect the 405 - 430 nm light. No special protection is necessary while using BlueGuard LEDS®. Since it is safe to use while the room is in use, it virtually disinfects 24/7.

BlueGuard LEDS® for the room environment are designed to turn on the white light when there are personnel in the room using a motion sensor and shut it off when all personnel leave the room. The 405 – 470 nm light will remain on to continue disinfection in the absence of all personnel. They can also be programmed to have all lights remain on when in use, which is ideal for hallways and other areas that are always lighted.

BlueGuard LEDS® are designed to disinfect the air and surfaces of indoor environments such as floors, desks, tables, clothes, curtains, blinds, etc. that are present within the area. There is no requirement for user involvement and the killing of pathogens is continuous. This light is complementary to existing prevention and control methods such as hand washes, wipes and disinfectants, and also tackles the unresolved problem of environmental transmission of micro-organisms.
